Directions from Moscow to Yaroslavl

There are three international airports in Moscow region: Domodedovo (DME), Sheremetyevo (SVO), and Vnukovo (VKO). All three airports are connected with the Moscow city center (but not with each other) by Aeroexpress train system. You can buy tickets for Aeroexpress in the airport. We recommend to buy tickets at ticket offices (you can use credit card there) because only in that case you can additionally buy single-ride ticket for subway and don't loose time in lines inside Moscow. The full information about fares available here.

Final stops of all Aeroexpress trains are located on the circular line (brown, line 5) of the Moscow subway (map). The Yaroslavl's train station also located on the circular line (brown, line 5) on the station Komsomol'skaya (upper intersection of red line 1 and brown line 5). Below you can find detailed directions to the Yaroslavl train station from different airports.

Full-size map.

  • Domodedovo airport (DME). You need to go to Aeroexpress train terminal which located close to domestic arrivals. You can find it by following Aeroexpress logo. After that you need to go to the Paveletskaya subway station of the circular line (brown, line 5) using subway logo (the capital letter "M" in a circle). You can use the following directions on the Aeroexpress web-site for both finding the Aeroexpress station and subway station. The Paveletskaya train station is the lower intersection of circular subway line with the line number 2 (green) and you need to take the third stop direction counterclockwise and exit subway after that at Komsomol'skaya station.
  • Sheremetyevo airport (DME). You need to go to Aeroexpress train terminal. This terminal can be reached by passage from the terminal E. You can find it by following Aeroexpress logo. After that you need to go to the Beloruskaya subway station of the circular line (brown, line 5) using subway logo (the capital letter "M" in a circle). You can use the following directions on the Aeroexpress web-site for both finding the Aeroexpress station and subway station. The Beloruskaya train station is the upper intersection of circular subway line with the line number 2 (green) and you need to take the third stop direction clockwise and exit subway after that at Komsomol'skaya station.
  • Vnukovo airport (DME). You need to go to Aeroexpress train terminal which located in the front of the Terminal A. You can find it by following Aeroexpress logo. After that you need to go to the Kievskaya subway station of the circular line (brown, line 5) using subway logo (the capital letter "M" in a circle). You can use the following directions on the Aeroexpress web-site for both finding the Aeroexpress station and subway station. The Kievskaya train station is the left intersection of circular subway line with the lines 3 and 4 (blue and light blue) and you need to take the fifth stop direction clockwise and exit subway after that at Komsomol'skaya station.

After exit from the subway you find yourself on the Komsomol'skaya square and you need to go to "Yaroslavskiy vokzal" (Yaroslavl's train station). Be careful, there are three big train stations and you need to choose the right one. It is marked on the following Google-map (all subway exits are show with capital letter "M" in a circle), also you can use signs inside the subway to find the proper train station (probably all signs are in Russian and says "Ярославский вокзал").

After finding yourself at the correct train station you need to find your train. Usually you can enter the train at most 30-minutes before departure and the departure platform is not fixed (usually it is a number from 1 to 6, other platforms are for local trains only) so below there is an instruction on finding your train and place in it using your electronic ticket. If you arrive too early you can wait for your boarding time in the Main building of the train station, it has number 5 on the same Google-map to the south of train station mark.

Here is the example of electronic ticket.

You can find your name and initials, and last four symbols of your passport number (red mark 1, in the example it is for A. Garber). Red mark 2 indicates the date and the time of train departure (January 24 at 19:05). And the red mark 3 indicates the train number, and the number of your coach and your seat in this coach (train 816, coach 6, seat 37).

You can use the train number and its departure time to find the correct platform. For example it can look like here (thanks for Google Maps Panoramio):

for the train number 2 to Vladivostok departing from the 1st platform at 21:20.

We will meet you at train station in Yaroslavl and guide to the Ibis hotel.
